Dear Global Community (Women can Thrive and Lead in Technology)

We, Team Progressive, led by Zainab Dumbuya, President-Elect of the Computer Science Society at the University of Makeni, are on a mission to revolutionize technology education and empower women in Sierra Leone. Our goal is to establish a state-of-the-art computer science lab that will provide advanced learning opportunities and foster innovation. We aim to raise $200,000 to bring this vision to life and demonstrate that women can thrive and lead in technology. Your support will not only help build this critical infrastructure but also send a powerful message of solidarity and belief in the potential of women in tech. Join us in making a lasting impact and creating a brighter, more inclusive future for Sierra Leone.

Results Oriented Growth

Team Progressive will focus on setting clear objectives and measurable goals for the society’s activities. It involves prioritizing initiatives that lead to tangible outcomes such as increased membership, successful fundraising for the state-of-the-art computer lab, enhanced student engagement through workshops and competitions, and fostering a supportive environment for learning and career development in technology. This approach ensures that every effort contributes meaningfully to the society’s advancement and impact within the university community.

Stakeholders Collaboration

We will actively engage with various groups including university administration, faculty members, industry professionals, and local communities. This collaboration aims to leverage expertise, resources, and opportunities to enrich the society’s activities. It includes organizing joint events, guest lectures, industry visits, and internship opportunities, thereby fostering a robust ecosystem that supports the growth and development of members while aligning with broader educational and industry goals in technology and innovation.

Data-Driven Creativity and Innovation

We will use data analytics and insights to fuel creative problem-solving and innovation. Members harness data-driven approaches to identify trends, understand user needs, and optimize solutions. This approach encourages experimentation and iterative development of projects, ensuring that ideas are grounded in empirical evidence and capable of addressing real-world challenges effectively. It fosters a culture of innovation where data-driven decisions drive the society’s initiatives, enhancing its impact and relevance within the university and beyond.
